Sherman Eoff

President Retires

Sherman Eoff, after 48 years at Jack Tyler Engineering, Inc., has made the decision to retire as President. The date of his retirement coincided with his 70 th birthday, February 2, 2023. Sherman is stepping back from the day-to-day management of the company and into the role of Chairman of the Board.

Sherman started with Jack Tyler Engineering upon his graduation from the University of Arkansas in 1975. He has occupied many different roles in the company from inside sales, purchasing, invoicing, outside sales, management, and finally, in 1993, taking on the position of President. This move will allow Sherman time to spend with his wife, Cindy, and their Labrador, Samson, on the lake where they enjoy many different activities such as Pickleball and evening boat cruises.

Over Sherman’s career, he has made an impact on the distribution marketplace in the state of Arkansas. Sherman served on many different manufacturers’ distribution councils, including two terms on the Flygt pump distributor council serving as president in 2004. During his term as president of Jack Tyler Engineering Inc., growth has occurred in volume and expansion of territory into surrounding states. His work ethic and vision will be missed by all in the company; however, he states he is still only just a phone call away.

STEPHEN TYLER EOFF

President

Stephen is the 3rd generation to work in and lead Jack Tyler Engineering. His grandfather and founder, Jack Tyler, and his father and current owner, Sherman, told him after his high school graduation, “Go get your engineering degree and call us when you are 30.” Stephen earned a B.S. degree in Computer Engineering from the University of Arkansas in Fayetteville in 2003 and after 10 years of working as an engineer, salesman, and sales manager, he joined JTE in 2013 at the age of 32.

Stephen started in the service department working alongside JTE’s technicians learning the equipment. He then moved into inside sales and application engineering and realized he wanted more technical training on fluid dynamics and thermodynamics to better understand and serve customers on pump systems, so he enrolled in the University of Alabama’s Mechanical Engineering Distance Learning Program from 2013 to 2017. Stephen loves solving problems and he loves building teams.

In 2018, Sherman announced his plans to retire in February 2023, and since that time, Stephen has been working to build a strong leadership team to continue to serve JTE’s customers after Sherman retires. Stephen is both humbled and honored to get the opportunity to take over leadership of the company and is excited to continue to grow and expand. Stephen lives in Little Rock with his wife Whitney and their six children.

James Spann

Vice President of Water & Wastewater

James Spann has a Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from University of Arkansas at Fayetteville. He has worked for over 20 years in the water & wastewater industry, serving both as a consulting engineer and as an equipment sales representative. This combined experience with complete project involvement through system design with the engineer, to project management/install with the contractor and service to the owner, gives perspective in seeing the big picture and path to success.

James is solution driven and dedicated to building rapport to maintain loyal account relationships through understanding needs and creating individual solutions. James joined JTE in the Spring of 2020 as part of the NWS Merger. Given James’ in-depth knowledge of engineered project sales and project management, James was chosen to lead JTE’s Municipal Sales Team.

Luke Russell

Vice President of Industrial Solutions & Reliability

Luke earned a Mechanical Engineering degree from the University of Arkansas at Fayetteville and a Computer Science degree from SAU Tech. After graduation, Luke joined Dassault Falcon Jet as a liaison engineer and worked in the aircraft industry for two years. Luke then gained experience as an applications and sales engineer for a pump distributor in Tennessee and called on industrial manufacturing plants in south AR.

Through the relationships he made, he was recruited to be a Reliability Engineer at a paper mill in Morrilton, AR. It was at the paper mill where Luke fell in love with pump systems and quickly became the go to expert in the mill for all things related to fluid dynamics and thermodynamics. Luke took it upon himself to create and start the mill's Pump Rebuild Shop where he brought the repair and maintenance of all rotating equipment under his supervision and leadership. Using his skills as a reliability engineer, Luke created preventative maintenance programs for the plant’s rotating equipment as well as implemented root cause failure analysis to lengthen the equipment’s run time and mean time between failure.

It was during his time at the mill, that Luke was recruited to lead JTE’s Service Department and Industrial Sales Team, and he joined JTE in May 2022. Luke’s vision is to continue to grow JTE’s Pump Repair Facility and JTE’s Field Service Staff into a world-class service center. Luke also is excited to launch JTE Reliability, where JTE will work directly with owners to create PM agreements with JTE Field Service Staff to extend the service life and efficiency of the owner’s rotating equipment. Luke lives in Benton, AR with his wife Katie and their three children.
